To the joy of many, Crop Over season is upon us. The happiest time of year for many, Crop Over in 2017 looks set not to disappoint, with the great tunes being released, exciting events in store and the super-charged culmination of the festival, Kadooment. Bazodee has returned with its annual Spotlight Competition where we give brands a chance to greater interact with the public. We also give Cropoverites a chance to understand the ethos and ideas behind a brand, to watch their favorite brand evolve and see what new things brands have in store for patrons each season.
One of the most anticipated events for the year is Puff of Colour, styled as a Jouvert Alternative, has definitively become one of the biggest parties in Barbados of all time. Puff of Colour is said to embody the spirit of the Crop Over festival season. Every year, loyal patrons patiently wait for Puff of Colour, determined to come out and have a blast at this J'ouvert Experience. Puff of Colour quickly sells out without fail, turning each ticket into a golden ticket as passes to these parties become a gateway to an earthbound soca jouvert paradise.
Starting from humble origins, POC now regularly draws over 5000 people to its event, carving out a unique area at Searles Quarry in Christ Church to host the massive J'ouvert Experience. Chelsea Boyzz, the organizers of the event, first started in 2005 with the idea to create innovative theme parties with a difference. The first Puff of Colour originated in 2010 as a Jouvert cruise and since then the event has exploded in popularity. It became a land-based event in 2012, coming ashore Carlisle Bay Gardens before expanding rapidly. It has found a new home at the Searles Quarry in Christ Church which becomes a Jouvert Soca Rave every July. Puff of Colour is sold out for Crop Over 2017 so last minute Bajans looking to grab one are out of luck and will have to hear exciting stories from this year's event.
Billed as a Jouvert Soca Rave, from 10 PM on Saturday July 8th, thousands of people will descend on Searles Quarry for hours of unadulterated fun. How do you dress for the night? It's simple, just wear white and dress comfortably ( no slippers, heels or bare feet as the quarry is rocky) and plan to come out to have a blast. Admission includes the highly favoured playground attractions, free Puff Punch, paint, powder, water as well as random surprises! What's not to love about every Puff of Colour event?
For 2017, Bazodee has teamed up with Chelsea Boyzz to give away one free ticket for Puff of Colour 2017. All you simply have to do is answer three questions to be entered into the chance to win. Winners will be announced shortly after the competition closes on Saturday July 8th at 12 PM.
